How Suite it Is
Well, the tuxedo debacle continues. I sat in traffic for two hours this morning/afternoon only to be told they didn’t have the rental I was looking for. It isn’t a huge headache, they rent them. They just did not have one in stock. I want to confirm the color before pulling the trigger (colors are very important at My Girlfriend's Wedding). I just wish they hadn’t led me to believe it was in stock before I sat on Interstate 45 for 2 hours.
Interstate 45 is uniquely Texan. It is the shortest “true” Interstate Highway in the interstate highway system, running from Galveston, TX to Dallas, TX it connects the countries largest port by foriegn tonnage to Interstates 10, 20, 30, 35, and 69 providing quick access to the interior (and 9 of the 15 largest cities in the United States). It was the first interstate built in Texas, the Manned Space Flight Center (Now JSC) site was picked because of the interstate project. It can be abysmally slow. The Pierce Elevated, built in the 1960s, was meant to give people a view of the business district and hint toward a Jetson's inspired future. As it turns out, the sky is not the limit for recreational activities underneath a freeway. The cement is.
Houston has been trying to move the downtown section of I-45 to run along with I-69 for some time now. The wheels of progress turn slowly, or too quickly if you live in a late 1940s bungalow on Houston's near north side. Perhaps an underground freeway conduit with an “at grade” park on top of it will prove just as useless in another 60 years, but I'll probably be dead by then. Which isn’t the point.
